Parents and guardians of St. Gregory the Great are invited to participate in a school boundary review to determine the school boundaries for the new North Oakville #4 Catholic Elementary School.
- On October 20, 2020, the Ministry of Education approved funding for North Oakville #4 CES.
- North Oakville #4 CES is located in the new residential development area of North Oakville, within the North Oakville East Secondary Plan. The North Oakville development area community contains many low and medium-density residential developments. Approximately 12,600 residential units, of varying densities, are expected from the North Oakville community.
- Currently, all elementary students within the North Oakville community are being accommodated at St. Gregory the Great CES for JK to Grade 8. However, St. Gregory the Great CES is nearing site capacity and cannot accommodate future students from the North Oakville community. St. Gregory the Great CES is projected to exceed site capacity by 2024 due to development pressures and the potential expansion pressures from optional programming demands (i.e. French Immersion program).
Scope of the Boundary Review
A School Boundary Review for St. Gregory the Great will review existing school attendance areas to establish school boundaries for the new North Oakville #4 Catholic Elementary School. This will ensure that elementary students from the North Oakville new development area are directed to their new home school by September 2022 – before capacity is exceeded at St. Gregory the Great.
School Boundary Review Committee (SBRC)
The first step in this review involves establishing a School Boundary Review Committee (SBRC) made up of parents and Board staff. The role of the SBRC is to gather and share information about the review with their school communities.
St. Gregory the Great has been asked to provide two (2) parent representatives to serve as members of the SBRC.
The Board is hoping to have representation on the SBRC from one (1) member of the St. Gregory the Great School Council, as well as one (1) parent who does not sit on the Catholic School Council.
The SBRC will meet several times throughout the review process. The meetings will be held virtually during weekday evenings and may last anywhere between 2-3 hours. The first meeting will take place on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 beginning at 7:00 PM.
In addition to attending all SBRC meetings, SBRC members are also required to attend the public consultation meetings which will take place throughout the process.
