2019 Long-Term Capital Plan Community Feedback Survey Results Now Available

Halton Region community members were invited to provide feedback regarding the accommodation strategies proposed in our Board’s updated 2019 Long-Term Capital Plan.

Staff presented Trustees with the 2019 Long-Term Capital Plan Community Feedback Information Report at the Regular Board Meeting on June 4, 2019. This report analyzes the 197 valuable responses that were submitted by community members.

RECAP: 2019 Annual Community Planning & Facility Partnerships Community Meeting

On Wednesday, May 15, 2019, HCDSB community members attended the Board’s 2019 Annual Community Planning & Facility Partnerships Community Meeting at Jean Vanier Catholic Secondary School.

The purpose of this meeting was to inform school communities of the Board’s 2019 Long-Term Capital Plan (LTCP), which outlines the Board’s 15-year school capital projects plan.

The meeting started with a brief overview presentation led by Fred Thibeault, Senior Manager of Planning Services.

After the presentation, meeting attendees were able to review information related to the LTCP, including proposed school projects and projected enrolment, in more detail via information display boards and booklets, and they were also able to talk to Board staff and ask questions.

Lastly, attendees were encouraged to provide their valuable feedback via an online LTCP Community Feedback Survey.

The survey was available until May 26, 2019, and is now closed.

Background
A Long-Term Capital Plan (LTCP) is an annually reviewed document that provides detailed enrolment projections over a 15-year period. The LTCP uses these enrolment projections to identify current and future accommodation pressures that result from new residential development, changing demographics, and program pressures.

Community Feedback
Halton Region community members are invited to provide feedback regarding the accommodation strategies proposed in the updated LTCP. All community feedback will be presented to HCDSB Trustees prior to the updated LTCP being finalized and presented to Trustees for information at the Regular Board Meeting on June 18, 2019.

Online Feedback Survey
The HCDSB community is invited to share their input on the Board’s draft 2019 LTCP through an online feedback survey, which will launch on May 8, 2019.

Board Report: 2019 Long-Term Capital Plan – Updated Projections

At the Regular Board Meeting on Tuesday, March 19, 2019, the Board submitted an Information Report regarding the 2019 Long-Term Capital Plan (LTCP) updated projections to Trustees.

2019 Long-Term Capital Plan Projections Now Available

Since Planning Services presented the Board’s Four Year Ministry Enrolment Projections back in December, we have refined the projections with updated development information and trends, and updated pupil yields for new development.

The Long-Term Capital Plan (LTCP) – Updated Projections Information Report, presented to Trustees at the Regular Board Meeting on March 19, 2019, is now available.

Next Steps
in the process will be to complete the Long-Term Capital Plan – Annual Facility Accommodation Report, which will identify capital priorities and facility partnership opportunities for the Board.

This information will be presented to the Board of Trustees on April 2, 2019, as per the requirement of Policy I 37: Community Planning & Facility Partnerships.

2018 Long-Term Capital Plan Approved in Principle

At the Regular Board Meeting on Tuesday, June 5, 2018, the Board of Trustees approved in principle the 2018 Long-Term Capital Plan.

RESOLUTION:

WHEREAS, the 2018 Long-Term Capital Plan will serve as a framework to guide the implementation of the Board’s long-term capital and accommodation planning strategies for the next 15-year period;

WHEREAS, the implementation of Pupil Accommodation Review and School Boundary Review projects contained within the 2018 Long-Term Capital Plan requires the Board to follow the legislative requirements under the Education Act, Ministry of Education Guidelines, and relevant Board Operating Policies and Administrative Procedures; and,

WHEREAS, the commencement and consideration for implementation of Pupil Accommodation Review and School Boundary Review projects contained within the 2018 Long-Term Capital Plan will require subsequent Board of Trustee approvals.

BE IT RESOLVED, that the Halton Catholic District School Board hereby approves, in principle, the 2018 Long-Term Capital Plan.

2018 Annual Facility Accommodation Report

At the Regular Board Meeting held on Tuesday, April 17, 2018, Board staff provided Trustees with an annual update on pupil accommodation in Halton Region.

2017 Capital Priorities Grant Official Ministry Funding Announcement

At the Regular Board Meeting held on Tuesday, March 20, 2018, Board staff informed Trustees of the official Ministry of Education funding announcement for the 2017 Capital Priorities Grant pertaining to the eight projects submitted on September 8, 2017.

At the Regular Board Meeting held on Tuesday, February 20, 2018, Board staff provided Trustees with an update on the 2018 Long-Term Accommodation Plan (LTAP).

2017 Capital Priorities Grant Preliminary Ministry Funding Announcement

At the Regular Board Meeting held on Tuesday, February 6, 2018, Board staff informed Trustees of the preliminary January 19, 2018, funding announcement made by the Minister of Education regarding two of the eight projects submitted by the Board as part of the 2017 Capital Priorities Grant Submission made on September 8, 2017.

Ministry Response to 2017 Capital Priorities & EYCP Submissions

At the Regular Board Meeting held on Tuesday, January 16, 2018, Board staff provided the Ministry of Education’s response to the 2017 Capital Priorities business cases, and the request for Early Years Capital Program (EYCP) to Trustees.

At the Regular Board Meeting on Tuesday, December 19, 2017, the Board submitted a Four Year Ministry Enrolment Projection And Long-Term Accommodation Plan (LTAP) Preliminary Enrolment Projection Information Report to Trustees.
